Do you have to use the churches minister?

I have been attending the same church for several years now and really want to be married there. The only thing that I was wondering is can we use a different minister. I have nothing against my pastor, but my fiances father is also a preacher and i think it would be really cool if he could be the one to marry us. Is it bad manners or improper to request that my soon to be father-in-law marry us even though he does not pastor the church?
