My cat will not get better, congested, wheezing, etc.?

she and a ktten i have have been sick for a month now, I give them L-lysine which seems to ease the symptoms a little. Im going to take them both to the vet this week. But Im i dont want to get amillion tests done on her and him. Theyre both energetic, each plenty, drink plenty, my older cat shes 10 shes sounds like shes congested all the time, and I try to take her in the bathroom when i take a shower, and I got "little noses" for her, which helps get some junk out. But Its not really green.. maybe once inawhile i see a green tint to the mucus, but its clear 90% of the time. I give them each 600mg each day of L-lysine in wet food. What do you think they have? and what do you think the vet will do?
