Mel & Jade ....Hinduism history of the book??-only book?

Well the holy book of hindus is the Shrimadbhagavat Gita or simply Gita, which is a book consisting of Krishna's verses he spoke to Arjuna, before the mahabharat about life and everything. But we also have four vedas describing other aspects of life. rituals and hyms. Also the Upanishads and other texts that tell us how to live, and philosophy and everything, though we hardly ever read them cause they are in sanskrit and very difficult to understand by todays hindi-speaking person. Each veda is thousands of verses long, so priests and gurus who study vedas and upanishad tell the common man the essence of these texts in gatherings. However, most hindus have read the gita or atlease know whats in it, and we know a lot about our gods and spiritual stories, and epics like mahabharata and ramayana (everyone knows everything about them, even small kids). The good thing about paganism is that many people have many views about a single religion, but they are all of the same religion, and hinduism isnt binding in any sort. I like that you can do what you want, and be a hindu. god is everywhere, and you dont need to read your holy book everyday or worship five times a day to reach him. hinduism has no conversion ceremonies, so muslims, christians cant really becomes hindus. but all paths lead to the same destination. thats why hinduism is so popular. we dont go around converting and hinduism isnt dying out either.
