I have a question abt the verb "to be"?

If you've ever learned a foreign language, you'll notice that there are certain expressions that you just say becasue it's what you've been taught. For example, most people would think "everyone" should be used with "are" and not 'is", but it is. Same thing with "who"; it's simply conjugated like that.
