Problems with bt hub?

i am trying to connect my pc to a bt hub is there anything i need to connect to my pc to send a signal to the hu the pc is in my kitchen and the hub is in my living room and i want to have as less amount of cables around the house as possible this is what the hub is to prevent i dont know a lot about this but i tried to connect it a while ago and gave up my friend says you need some device to plug into your pc so that it can get the signal from the hub is this right and can anyone tell me what the device is i need thanks
