Impact of enlightenment on the american revolution?

Its more of an indirect impact. The enlightenment thinking had a major impact on the european theorist and those theorist's ideas are the ones that effected the founders of the american government. John Locke, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Thom Hobbes are the main theorists who were effected by the enlightenment that shaped the Constitution. Much of John Locke's ideas were "borrowed", more like plagiarized, and became the basis of the Constitution. "The pursuit of life, liberty and property" (yes property) was his idea. Keep in mind there still is a lot of aspects of the american government that is pre-enlightenment, such as the idea of democracy(Greece), prevention of single person as sovereign ruler(Britain, Greece, Rome) and republics (Roman).
